I am glad to say your treatment (of my sinus problem) was successful, for which I am extremely grateful. It is a great relief to wake up without a headache and having to take painkillers every day. I would like to thank you for your help as I had been going back and forwards to my GP with it for about a year with no benefit.
Regards,
I am very pleased with the procedure. My partner says my snoring disturbance level has reduced by 80-90%.Thank you
many thanks for the speedy assisstance you afforded me during my recent Coblation Radiofrequency Palatoplasty. It has been an absolute pleasure dealing with you and if ever I can refer people to you, I will.
Kind regards.
I just wanted to say what excellent service I have experienced from Mr Marais in relation to my nose operation that was performed earlier this year.
I was completely reassured by the clear and concise explanation of both the operation procedure and the after effects, so that I was fully aware of what to expect and had little to fear as a result. I was also very reassured that if, after having had the surgery, I had any concerns whatsoever I could contact him at any time.
I must say that I have had a very uncomplicated experience of surgery under his care, and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending his excellent services to anyone else. Many thanks.
I have suffered severe rhinitis as long as I can remember. My symptoms have been no sense of smell, little sense of taste, constant dull headaches over the front of my head, breathing problems, sneezing and continuous sinus infections.
Over the years I have had polyps removed three times. However, they would always reoccur, usually within five years of previous surgery.
This time the surgery was to be more extensive to reach the upper sinus areas. From the onset, Mr Marais was able to explain every step of the procedure in simple terms, putting me at ease from day one, although at this stage I was willing to try anything. The surgery all went very well with the recovery fairly rapid considering the complexity of the procedure.
The headache soon disappeared; also I have a degree of smell and taste back, which I have not had in over 25 years! My breathing has improved and I generally feel so much better. I still religiously take the sprays, tablets and regularly flushed my nose to minimise the possibility of recurring polyps.
I would like to thank Mr Marais for his caring approach, knowledge and excellent work.
I would like to thank Mr Marais for his excellent work on my nose. I was made to feel at ease and any worries I may have had were forgotten about, thanks to his bedside manner.
Best wishes,
Results of previous nose surgery, done elsewhere some years ago, had made me very anxious about further corrective rhinoplasty surgery. I first consulted Mr Marais for another reason; I needed nasal polyps removing. The high standard of care I received for this problem encouraged me to ask Mr Marais to do the corrective rhinoplasty surgery I needed. The surgery involved using part of my ear cartilage to correct the shape of my nose, and I was very nervous about it. All my questions were patiently answered, and my fears were allayed. The surgery was successful, and my aftercare was excellent. I am just sorry now that I waited so long, because of anxiety, to have a nose I like.
Kind regards,
I was unfortunate enough to fall on some steps and fractured my nose rather badly. I was unable to breathe up one side of my nose and after 3 months, I decided I needed to see a good surgeon. Mr. Marais’ secretary was very helpful, and when I met him I found him very reassuring and easy to talk to. He seemed to realise my concerns about the anaesthetic and healing in general (I am 68 years old), and talked me through what to expect. His treatment was very professional and caring. Five months after my septorhinoplasty I can look at the results and feel so pleased with the look and the fact that I can now breathe through my nose is marvellous. I have nothing but praise for Mr. Marais and the way the whole procedure was conducted, including the aftercare.
From the moment, it was decided that Jack would need an operation to remove both his tonsils and adenoids the worry began. No matter how much we were reassured that Jack would be okay, it did not stop his dad and I worrying ourselves sick, that he would come through the operation okay…… To other parents about to go through the same thing: your child is under the care of a great Consultant who is fantastic with children and keeps you informed of what is going to happen and what to expect after. Finally, I would just like to say a big thank you to Mr Marais for his superb care of Jack and his reassurance to both my husband and I. Thank you for making the experience as easy as it could be, given the circumstances.
Having suffered from a blocked nose for over forty years I was delighted to learn from Mr. Marais that the solution was simple. A combination of a Septoplasty and a Turbinectomy completely cured the problem. The procedure was relatively painless and the post-operative care involved a course of antibiotics, painkillers, (only necessary for a few days) and a nasal douche / irrigation. The result has been so impressive that my teenage son has just undergone the identical procedure and experienced the same outcome!
I have undergone surgery twice on my nose. Once to remove polyps in 1999, and I was fearful of further surgery as the previous operation was unpleasant, and I felt it did not work. However, the surgery Mr Marais undertook was less traumatic and worked wonders. Thank you again for a new lease of life.

Dear Mr Marais,
I had been suffering badly with my nose for two years before I got the confidence to go ahead with the operation to mend my septum and clear out the infection. During those two years my quality of life deteriorated to the point I felt constantly unwell and was taking an unhealthy amount of medication just to get through the day. It got so bad that I decided to have the operation.
How I wish I had had it earlier!
I had one overnight stay in the Clementine Churchill hospital, where I found the accommodation and the nursing staff of first-class. The operation didn't take long, and I found myself pain-free almost instantly. Yes, I was uncomfortable, but not in pain. And after a few days it was back at work and feeling like a new person.
I would like to thank you personally for the way you looked after me. You reassured me and I always felt safe and secure in your care. Six months on, and everything has been great. No problems at all, and I feel better that I have done in years.
I genuinely can't thank you enough.
Yours sincerely,
Dear Mr Marais,
It is my pleasure to outline below my experience under your care.
I had, prior to seeing you, been suffering greatly for years with recurrent painful tonsillitis. I had no idea how bad this had become until I saw you. I had become used to having an almost constant terrible sore throat, fever, swollen glands and a constant feeling of depression, weakness and general illness. I had taken so much time of work with recurrent tonsillitis and illness (misdiagnosed by my GP as a virus each time) that I was worried for my job.
I was totally put at ease when I saw you and you very clearly explained, in terms why I would not get better. If I did not have a tonsillectomy. I was operated on within three days of seeing you, which was great as there was no time for nerves! The staff at the Clementine were all superb. The procedure and after-effects of the operation were all explained a very clearly. I was anxious to say the least, as an adult tonsillectomy is supposedly incredibly painful in the recovery period. However, I can honestly state that the horrendous pain that I was expecting never came. At worst, approximately 5 days after the operation, it felt like a bad case of tonsillitis -- however, the pain management program totally dulled the pain, so at worst I was slightly uncomfortable. I only needed 10 days of work and was able to eat and drink normally after only a few days. I urge anyone who has suffered like me to visit Mr Marais, and seriously consider having your tonsils removed. I have literally been given a new lease of life. I feel totally healthy and no longer wake up with the feelings of such weakness and illness that recurrent tonsillitis brings due to the constant build-up of poison that collect there. I hope this helps future patients, as you helped me.
Dear Mr Marais.
We would like to personally thank you for all your efforts in supporting Jessica and her ear problem. We are exceptionally pleased that she will continue as a normal little girl. Our appreciation and gratitude are untold, so thank you very much for looking after our little girl.
